Talking with a Counselor has many benefits that can help you live a more fulfilling life. Going to counseling can reduce stress and anxiety, improve your mood, your relationships, self-esteem, & help you better manage every day stressors. By exploring new ways to cope, changing your thinking patterns, and processing your past you’ll start making changes that help you feel better about yourself and be more content in your relationship & your life. Counseling can help you feel better able to handle daily life, difficult situations, & feel less distressed about past events.

Your first session will be spent getting to know you and your background. You don’t have to talk about anything that you don’t feel comfortable discussing. You are in charge of the session. Every session after that is dependent on your needs. This will be your space to be able to discuss anything you’d like. Our counselors will offer feedback and ask questions to help you further understand your thoughts & feelings. If you need to learn a new skill to help you cope, vent about your week, or discuss more serious issues, we are here to take your lead.

You may be on the fence if you’ve been in counseling before and it hasn’t helped. Your response could have been influenced by many factors. The relationship you had with your Counselor may not have been a good match or their approach may not have been what you needed. Also, you may not have been ready at the time. The outcome of counseling is most influenced by your willingness to put yourself out there, be honest with your Counselor, and be open to new ideas. At times this can be difficult, which is completely understandable. We will be there to help you navigate through this.
